If you visited a Cabela’s store on Saturday, June 8th you may have noticed kids fishing in the parking lot or heard arrows hitting targets as youth and their families attended Cabela’s Outdoor Adventure Day featuring the Trailblazer Adventure Program.
For the second year in a row, the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation’s (USSAF) Trailblazer Adventure Program teamed up with Cabela’s to host a day filled with outdoor education at all 41 Cabela’s locations. This year’s event gave thousands of youth and their families an opportunity to experience outdoor activities such as archery, fishing and target shooting before walking in the doors.
“The event went really well,” said Frank Price, USSAF Education Director. “The Trailblazer program is focused on providing high-quality outdoor education to youth and their families. We’re extremely excited about partnering with Cabela’s store locations – it’s a natural fit for Trailblazer.”
Activities varied by store, with participants able to gain hands on experience with not only shooting sports, but also with activities ranging from trapping, taxidermy, sporting dogs, falconry demonstrations, exposure with different local and national conservation groups and more.
“Cabela’s continues to be a leader in promoting our outdoor sports to the next generation,” said Doug Jeanneret, USSA vice president of marketing. “These events and the many other Trailblazer events held from coast to coast are making a difference in recruiting tomorrow’s hunters, trappers, and anglers.”
