Last week, the 2024 Washington legislative session adjourned sine die, which means it is completed for the year. It was another tumultuous year for Washingtonians.
Several gun control bills were introduced this year in the Evergreen state, but most were defeated. Unfortunately, the bills below did pass the legislature and are now on Governor Jay Inslee’s desk for consideration.
Governor Inslee has never met a gun control bill he doesn’t support, and we expect him to sign these bills into law. The Governor needs to hear that sportsmen oppose any bill that adds more restrictions and costs to the legal ownership of firearms. Please use the Take Action button to email the Governor and urge him to VETO HB 1903, HB 2118, and SB 5985.

House Bill 1903 further victimizes law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen by penalizing us for failing to report a missing or stolen firearm within 24 hours.
House Bill 2118 mandates additional costly requirements for licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) to continue to operate their businesses.
Senate Bill 5985 places the unconstitutional provisions of the recent ban on commonly owned firearms into the section of the state code on background checks.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Evergreen State. You never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.
You can view the bills the Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored during the legislative session on our interactive legislative map. Please share this message with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout Washington must continue to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
