Firearm Manufacturer Liability Bill Headed to the House
The final stretch of Michigan’s 2024 legislative session is here, and the antis are working hard to take another step towards cratering the values and hunting and firearm heritage of sportsmen and gun owners.
Current Michigan law protects the firearm industry from being held liable for the criminal misuse of firearms. Yesterday, Wednesday, December 11, the House Judiciary Committee passed House Bill 6185 and tie-barred bills, House Bill 6184 and House Bill 6183. This detrimental bill will strip that important protection, thus allowing the antis to bring civil action lawsuits against the firearm industry.
With only a few days left of the 2024 session, it is imperative that you use our Take Action button to email your state Representative and urge him/her to vote “No” on HB 6185, HB 6184, and HB 6183. These bills do nothing to reduce the criminal misuse of firearms. They will only cripple the firearm industry by instituting new policies and procedures that will make it nearly impossible for the firearm industry to engage in the lawful sale and/or trade of firearms in the state.
Don’t forget to share this alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Encourage them to use the Take Action to contact their state Representative and urge him/her to vote “No” on HB 6185, HB 6184, and HB 6183. The Great Lakes State needs all its sportsmen and gun owners to stay fully engaged against those who want to eliminate our values and our way of life.
