After taking a major loss last year when sportsmen defeated Proposition 127, animal extremists are back at the legislature trying to crater hunting, trapping, and fishing within the Centennial State.
On Thursday, March 6, upon adjournment, in HCR 0107, the House Agriculture, Water & Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to hear House Bill 25-1258. This legislation is detrimental to proper wildlife management.
The current wildlife statute reads: “The state shall utilize hunting, trapping, and fishing as the primary methods of effecting necessary wildlife harvest.”
With the change of just one word, from “shall” to “may,” Colorado’s wildlife management will no longer ensure hunting, trapping, and fishing as a wildlife management tool, let alone the primary wildlife management tool.
HB25-1258 may authorize hunting, trapping, and fishing in accordance with the best available wildlife and ecological science to benefit wildlife, whole ecosystems health, and all Coloradans.
Use the Take Action button to email the committee TODAY. Urge them to support sportsmen and protect Colorado’s wildlife by voting “No” on HB25-1258. The future of hunting, trapping, and fishing is at risk and requires all of Colorado’s sportsmen to take action TODAY. It cannot be stressed enough that there has never been a more important time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life.
The victory on Proposition 127 would be all for naught if extremist get HB25-1258 passed. Make sure you share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Ask them to join the fight to protect hunting, trapping, and fishing with you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance by taking action today.
