Another crushing anti-sportsman bill was sent to Colorado’s Governor Polis for his consideration. This time it is House Bill 25-1133, a bill to prohibit 18- to 20-year-olds from purchasing ammunition in-person or by delivery. Like SB25-003, which creates a de facto firearm registry and was also sent to the governor this week, the law gives Governor Polis 10 days to make a decision on this legislation.
Use the Take Action button to email the governor and urge him to VETO HB25-1133 and SB25-003. It is IMPERATIVE that you email the governor today, because if he does not take action both bills will automatically become law without his signature.
Firearm haters think knowing which law-abiding Coloradoan owns a firearm will reduce the state violent crime rate. We know this is not logical, because criminals do not follow the law now, nor will they follow SB25-003 and HB25-1133 if they are signed into law. This leaves Colorado in the exact same place – except 18-year-old law-abiding adults won’t be able to buy ammunition and the state will have a registry of everyone who has actually taken a firearm safety class so they may legally purchase a firearm.
It does not make sense for a state that is facing a budget shortfall around $1.2 billion in the coming years to implement a system with unknown costs to track its law-abiding citizens. Since only the law-abiding will comply, this leaves criminals who are wreaking havoc on our communities completely unchecked.
