Washingtonian anglers, hunters, and trappers, here is our chance to help ensure our voices are heard.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will conduct three surveys to get thoughts on what to consider in updating the Washington State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP). The first of the three surveys is open until Friday, November 15. Use the Take Survey button below to get to the survey. Note: you must scroll down the page to get to the survey questions.
According to WDFW:
The SWAP outlines important biodiversity conservation actions related to the WDFW Strategic Plan, to recover and sustain fish and wildlife, and develop conservation partnerships.
In 2005, Washington’s first Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy was implemented. It has since been renamed and known as SWAP and was last updated in 2015. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services requires this plan to be updated every 10 years. This update ensures the state remains eligible for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants Program. The program helps support state actions that benefit wildlife and habitat, including the “Species of Greatest Conservation Needs (SGCN).” FYI – wolves and grizzlies are on this list.
This is for a 10-year plan and Washington’s anglers, hunters, and trappers cannot afford to be left out of the process. Forward this alert to your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen and women to ensure the Sportsmen’s values are a part of this important decision-making.
