Sportsmen and gun owners, we are telling you SB25-003 is bad because it is a backdoor scheme to knowing who owns a firearm in Colorado. Guess what? It’s worse than that. SB25-003 also bans 18- to 20-year-olds from purchasing a semiautomatic firearm.
As previously reported, you will have to apply for a firearms safety course eligibility card, of which one of the criteria is that you must be 21 years old.
On Tuesday, March 11, the House Judiciary Committee passed this freedom-killing bill requiring Coloradoans to apply for a permit-to-purchase before buying a semiautomatic rifle, shotgun or pistol with a detachable magazine, with a small list of exemptions. SB25-003 has already been placed on the House Finance agenda to be heard tomorrow, Friday, March 14.
Use the Take Action button to email your state Senator today. Urge them to support law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, because SB25-003 does not affect criminals engaging in violent crime. If your state Representative is a member of the House Finance Committee, they will see your request for opposition to SB25-003.
Not that we need a reminder, but gun-control extremists are always looking for a way to register all firearm owners. SB25-003 will definitely do just that, as this bill requires a new database be created to “check” who should and should not be allowed to purchase a semiautomatic firearm.
The red tape does not stop there! After paying for and completing the required safety course, the applicant must visit the county or city in which the applicant resides to obtain a firearms safety course eligibility card. To obtain this card, the sheriff will take two complete sets of the applicant’s fingerprints for the Colorado Bureau of Investigations to conduct a criminal background check.
A minimum or maximum cost of the required sheriff and fingerprinting processing fee is not included in the bill. And the applicant must also pay a non-refundable fee for the firearms safety course eligibility card. And remember, this is for law-abiding citizens, not the criminals who are causing all the problems.
And, to add insult to injury, you must be 21 years of age to even apply for a firearms safety course eligibility card. This means anyone under the age of 21, including all veterans and service members, however law-abiding and peaceable, will be banned from owning a semiautomatic handgun, rifle or shotgun.
It is pure poppycock that the extremists are claiming that requiring a permit-to-purchase or banning semiautomatic rifles and shotguns willprotect the public from violent crimes. This bill is about extremists getting one step closer to fully destroying our values and lifestyle. You know it, your neighbors know it, and everyone in the Centennial State knows it. We cannot continue to let the extremists bully us into non-existence.
Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout the Centennial State must be actively involved in the fight to defend our values and lifestyle today, tomorrow, and for future generations to enjoy. Urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in this important fight.
