Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, March 8, in the Old Supreme Court, the Senate State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee is scheduled to hear two gun-control bills of serious interest to sportsmen. Gun-control advocates are coming at sportsmen from every angle, so we must remain vigilant. Please use our take action button to email the members of the committee urging them to OPPOSE SB23-168 and SB23-169.
SB23-168 works to cripple the firearm industry by instituting new policies and procedures that will make it nearly impossible to engage in the lawful sale and/or trade of firearms in the state. Lawful firearm manufacturers and firearm dealers should not be responsible for crimes committed by third parties outside of their control. This bad policy is motivated by those who simply want to destroy the sporting community because they know that if the industry cannot engage in lawful commerce, hunters and sport shooters cannot hunt and shoot.
SB23-169 raises the age to purchase or possess a firearm to 21 with a list of confusing exemptions that will lead to many 18-to-20-year-old, law-abiding citizens being stripped of their right to hunt, shoot and defend themselves. This legislation isn’t about stopping crime or protecting communities, it’s about cratering the freedom of law-abiding hunters throughout Colorado.
Don’t forget to share this email with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen urging them to email the committee urging them to OPPOSE these bills and to join the fight with the Sportsmen’s Alliance to protect Colorado’s outdoor heritage.
