As previously reported, gun-control extremists are working to uncover who owns firearms in America. The latest tactic is to track credit card purchases of firearms and ammunition. Gun-control fanatics in the legislatures of New York, California and Colorado embraced this new “tool” in their ongoing quest to destroy our sportsmen’s rights by passing this legislation and sending it to their governors, who promptly signed it into law.
Yesterday, January 30, the South Dakota Senate took steps to ensure this does not happen in the Rushmore State. By an overwhelming vote of 30 to 2, the Senate passed SB 81, the important bill to protect sportsmen’s credit card privacy rights. SB 81 will now move to the House for further consideration. SB 81 prohibits a financial institution or an agent of a financial institution from using a firearms code in a way that distinguishes a firearms dealer physically located in this state from a general merchandise retailer or a sporting goods retailer located in this state.
