You do not have to tell South Dakotans where the best state is to go bird hunting! When you Google “best state to go bird hunting,” South Dakota pops up! South Dakota is even known as the “Pheasant Capital of America.”
Well, tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25, at 10 a.m. in room 423, the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to hear a bill that will have detrimental effects to the title “Pheasant Capital of America.”
The current safety zone for highways or rights-of-ways prohibits a hunter, unless they are the owner or have written consent is 660 feet from an occupied dwelling, church, school, or livestock. House Bill 1236 expands that zone to one-quarter mile (1,320 feet).
Use our Take Action Button to email the committee urging them to support South Dakota sportsmen and vote “No” to HB 1236.
There has never been a more important time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. Share this alert with your family and friends. Urge them to Take Action. We each must make a commitment to ourselves and future generations to stand up and fight, protect, and defend against the rising tide of animal extremism.
