Earlier this week, the Delaware House Judiciary Committee passed a bill to track the credit card purchases of its citizens. It is now headed to the floor for consideration by the full House.
House Bill 45 requires payment card networks to make available to merchant acquirers the merchant category code (MCC) for firearms and ammunition businesses by July 1, 2025, and for merchant acquirers to assign the MCC for firearms and ammunition businesses to firearms merchants beginning October 1, 2025. The bill also authorizes the Department of Justice to bring civil action against individuals or entities who violate the provisions of the act.

We all know criminals are not using credit cards to purchase firearms from retail stores. The only people who will be tracked with this code are law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners.
