The latest tactic to create a firearms registry in America is to track credit card purchases of firearms and ammunition – and now Delaware will consider allowing the action. Gun-control fanatics like New York Attorney General Letitia James, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Colorado Gov. Jared Polis have embraced this new “tool” and have chosen to focus their efforts on legal purchasers of firearms and ammunition instead of holding criminals accountable.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 12, at 10:30 am, in room H217, Delaware’s House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing on House Bill 45, a bill that if passed joins states like California, Colorado, and New York in trampling the credit card-purchase privacy of its sportsmen.
House Bill 45 requires credit card networks to make available to merchant acquirers the merchant category code (MCC) for firearms and ammunition businesses by July 1, 2025, and for merchant acquirers to assign the MCC for firearms and ammunition businesses to firearms merchants beginning October 1, 2025. The bill also authorizes the Department of Justice to bring civil actions against individuals or entities who violate the provisions of the act, and requires that such violators pay a civil fine of $10,000 for each violation, in addition to attorneys’ fees and costs in investigating and bringing the action. A court may also impose injunctive relief to prevent future violations.
Use our Take Action button to email the committee and urge them to vote “No” on HB 45.
Gun-control advocates say this is a tool to help identify “suspicious activities” and firearms trafficking. How do sportsmen and gun owners not take this idea as Delaware wanting to surveil the personal and private credit card purchases of its residents?
There has never been a more important time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. Gun-control extremists are using every possible avenue to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, including how to uncover personal identifying information on who owns firearms in America.
Do not forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Urge them to use the Take Action button and to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the rising tide of animal extremism and gun control. The extremists work tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most.
