A former lead singer of an 80’s English alternative rock band refused national television exposure when he withdrew from performing for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday February 26.
Morrissey, the former leader of the Smiths, cancelled the appearance because guests included stars from the reality TV show “Duck Dynasty.” An animal rights activist and vegan, Morrissey refused to perform on stage when scheduled to follow the popular duck-hunting stars, citing “moral” grounds.
In a statement published to his fan magazine, Morrissey said “I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers.”
The family shown on “Duck Dynasty” operates Duck Commander, a multi-million dollar business that produces supplies, mainly duck calls, for duck hunters.
