Pro-gun legislators in several states have already introduced and passed legislation that protects law-abiding gun owners and hunters. It is now Nebraska’s turn.
On Monday, March 17, at 1:30 p.m., in room 1507, the Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee will hold a hearing on LB 686 that will protect the credit card purchase privacy of its sportsmen.
LB686 states that card networks will not require or incentivize the use of a merchant category code in a manner that distinguishes a firearm retailer from other retailers and that no government entity shall keep or cause to be kept any list, record, or registry of privately owned firearms or the owners of firearms except for certain law enforcement actions. It also gives powers to the Attorney General to investigate allegations that a person or entity has violated the law and provides civil remedies.
Gun-control extremists are using every possible avenue to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, including how to uncover personal identifying information on who owns firearms in America. The latest tactic is to track credit card purchases of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition. Gun-control fanatics like New York Attorney General Letitia James, Governor Gavin Newsom and Colorado Governor Jared Polis embraced this new “tool” so they could focus their efforts on legal purchasers of firearms and ammunition in their ongoing quest to destroy our firearms freedom.
