Lawmakers head home, but your action is needed on a critical bill on the Governor’s desk.
Arizona 2026 Legislative Wrap-Up
On Saturday, June 13, the Arizona Legislature officially adjourned Sine Die. This means the session is officially over. Lawmakers have wrapped up their work for the year, meaning all pending bills that failed to pass are officially dead.
It was an active year for anti-sportsmen rhetoric in the Grand Canyon State. Here is how the legislative session ended:
Shooting Range Protection at the Governor’s Desk
HB 2763 passed the legislature in the final days and is currently awaiting action from Governor Hobbs. We need you to contact her office immediately and ask her to sign HB 2763 into law.
- HB 2763: Transmitted to the Governor on June 11, this bill adds strict legislative oversight to prevent the unilateral or quiet closure of public shooting ranges like Ben Avery. It requires a formal legislative joint resolution before state-owned ranges near large cities can be closed, ensuring transparency for recreational shooters.
The Veto and Signed Legislation
- SB 1058: This crucial legislation would have protected the purchase privacy of sportsmen by banning financial institutions from using specialized merchant category codes (MCC) to track firearm and ammunition purchases. SB 1058 passed the legislature, and Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed the bill.
- HB 2117: Signed into law on April 13, 2026, this bill secures essential structural funding to protect Arizona’s natural resources, benefiting both wildlife habitat management and conservation efforts.

The Fight Never Stops: Stay Vigilant!
Even though the legislative session has wrapped up for the year, our work to safeguard Arizona’s rich outdoor traditions is far from over. Anti-hunting organizations never take a break. They are always seeking ways to bypass the legislature or use administrative rule changes that threaten our traditions and way of life.
We’ve seen it in states across the country: the moment we look away, they strike. We need you to stay vigilant, keep your boots on the ground, and be ready to mobilize at a moment’s notice.
Defending Arizona’s Sportsmen Heritage
Share this message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen, and urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in protecting and defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage in the Grand Canyon State.
