On August 13 and 14, starting at 8:30 a.m. on both days, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will be holding a public meeting on several sportsmen-related issues. The meeting will be held at the Florida Public Safety Institute Conference Center Building, 85 Academy Drive in Havana.
The Commission will be discussing final rules for a black bear hunt, a proposed rule on gulf land snapper regulations, and more on Wednesday and taking action on recommended changes to the wildlife codes regarding the 2025 – 2026 deer hunting season, duck zone boundaries and season dates, and furbearer regulations, and discussing other vital sportsmen issues on Thursday. There will be time allotted for in-person public comments. For in-person comments, please review the speaker registration guidelines at myfwc.com/about/commission/.
Commission members need to hear from us, the sportsmen, if we want to protect our lifestyle and heritage. If we don’t, you can guarantee that the animal extremists will fill the void. They are already cratering our hunting, fishing, and trapping traditions from the inside out in other states. We cannot let that happen in the Sunshine State.
Share this alert with your family and friends and encourage them to attend this and future council meetings in-person or virtual. Urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the relentless attacks from animal extremists. The extremists are working tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
