Last week, the respective Senate and House committees took up Senate Bill 1156 and House Bill 873, the “dangerous dog” bills. We are glad to announce some good news. The language that was removed exempting sporting/hunting dogs was returned removing our opposition to these bills.
As previously reported, the original language of the bills removed the exemptions for dogs engaged in legal hunting and trialing (field, hunting/retrieving, and herding) and even included conformation shows.
Your emails helped ensure dogs engaged in legal activities under the watchful eyes of their owners, doing what they are born and bred to do are not dangerous dogs.
We will continue to monitor these bills as they move through the legislative process.
Don’t forget to share this good news with your family, friends, fellow sportsmen, and dog enthusiasts. Take a moment to also urge them to sign up for alerts and join the Sportsmen’s Alliance for regular updates and action items.
