The assault on dog breeders by animal activists is relentless.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m., in room 301-303, the New Hampshire House Environment and Agriculture Committee is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a bill that will establish a dangerous precedent for radical enforcement against all dog breeders. It is also scheduled for a full committee work session the next day, March 6 at 10 a.m.
House Bill 1102-FN describes brachycephaly as a “birth deformity that causes suffering” and would CRIMINALIZE the sale and breeding of brachycephalic dogs and any dog that could be claimed to have any birth deformity. Deformity is not defined in the bill, so enforcement actions could be brought against breeders for just about anything under the sun. This is nothing but “feel good” legislation meant to harass and intimidate legitimate dog breeders and has nothing to do with actual safety issues for dogs.
While it may appear that this bill only targets a subset of breeders, its expansive language actually targets breeders of all dogs. Reputable hunting and sporting dog breeders work extremely hard to preserve breed characteristics, but this bill considers them criminals without defining what that is.
Please use our Take Action button to email the committee members urging them to vote No on HB 1102. The committee members need to know that reputable breeders do not deserve to be put in the same category as those with no regard for canine welfare.
Don’t forget to share this alert with your family, friends, fellow sportsmen, and fellow dog enthusiasts. Ask them to also use the Take Action button to email committee members urging them to vote No on HB 1102-FN.
