Connecticut House Bill 5844, sponsored by Representative Diana Urban (D- North Stonington), would completely prohibit tethering a dog outdoors between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless a person was outside with the dog while tethered.
The bill has been set for a hearing on Friday, March 15th at 10:30 a.m. in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
Connecticut sportsmen should call their state representative today and tell them to vote no on House Bill 5844.
“Creating an arbitrary restriction on when dog owners can and cannot tether a dog does nothing to prevent animal abuse,” said Jeremy Rine, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance In-House Counsel. “Many responsible dog owners safely tether their dogs outdoors overnight. Sportsmen need to call their representatives today to stop this unnecessary bill.”
