Earlier this week, House Bill 1084, the bill to protect the credit card privacy rights of sportsmen passed the House by a vote of 73 to 22. HB 1084 is now waiting for committee assignment in the Senate.
This important privacy rights bill prohibits a merchant acquirer or a payment card network from using or requiring the use of, an MCC in a way that distinguishes a firearms retailer with at least one physical location in Indiana from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers. The bill also prohibits a governmental entity or any other person from knowingly or willfully keeping any list, record, or registry of (1) privately owned firearms or (2) the owners of firearms with respect to Indiana consumers.
