Last week, the 2026 legislative session convened in the Pelican State. As in previous years, we expect to see bills covering fishing, hunting, and trapping, as well as firearm ownership and animal welfare.
Monitoring Sportsmen’s Interests
The Government Affairs (GA) Team is ready to review and monitor this year’s legislation. We will keep you informed of any issues, both good and bad, affecting sportsmen and women and our values. You can view the bills the GA Team will monitor on our interactive map.
Mid-Term Elections and Vote Tracking
Important to note, mid-term elections are happening this year. If votes are taken on sportsmen and firearm-related bills, you will soon be able to view those votes at our sportsmen’s vote tracker website, going live this year. We want to make sure you are ready to vote for the most pro-sportsmen candidate, so keep an eye out for our email on the release date.
Taking Action for Our Future
Just as we promise to keep you informed, it is equally crucial that you remain fully engaged when we alert you to something that requires your action. We cannot stand alone in this fight to protect our heritage. You must rally your family and friends to join the battle. Share with them what is at stake – our future. Together, we can protect what matters most and push back against those who threaten our values, our way of life, and our traditions.
Protecting Our Legacy
The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping depends on our actions today. Please stand with us or donate to the Sportsmen’s Legal Defense Fund in the fight against those who are working to bully and erode our heritage and traditions.
