Tuesday, March 4 at 1p.m., the Maryland Senate Education, Energy, and the Environment Committee is scheduled to hear several bills that concern sportsmen. Use our Take Action button to email the committee urging them to support sportsmen by voting “Yes” on SB 417 & SB 796 AND voting “No” on SB 634.
SB 417 authorizes a person to hunt in Carroll County on each Sunday of the game bird and game mammal seasons.
SB 796 repeals the time restrictions that apply to Sunday hunting in Dorchester County.
SB 634 bans the use of lead ammunition for hunting all game species on or before July 1, 2029.
New York tried to ban lead, and its own Lead Ammunition Work Group did not endorse a lead ban. Instead, they offered recommendations for education and developing and disseminating best management practices to hunters, deer processors, and food pantries to minimize the presence of lead on the landscape.
We also know from history how much damage to an economy banning lead ammunition can do. Hunters contribute $328 million to the economy, directly support over 4,100 jobs, and provide over $29 million to state and local taxes. This is a loss the Old Line State cannot afford.
Don’t forget to share this email with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Ask them to also use the Take Action to urge thee committee to vote “Yes” on SB 417 & SB 796 and vote “No” on SB 634. We each must make a commitment to ourselves and future generations to stand up and fight, protect, and defend against the rising tide of animal extremism. They work tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today and for future generations. Ask them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in the fight.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
