Maryland: Pro-Sportsmen Bills Scheduled for Hearings Jan. 25

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, the Senate Education, Energy, and the Environment Committee is scheduled to hear Senate Bill 10 and Senate Bill 91 at 10 a.m. in room 130.

SB 10 requires the Department of Natural Resources to make available, in a digital or electronic format, all licenses, stamps, permits, registrations and certificates issued by the Department, and to accept the format as proof of a valid license, stamp, permit, registration or certificate. More states are offering and accepting digital and electronic formats of hunting and fishing licenses, and we are glad to see Maryland stepping into the digital era.

Not stopping there, SB 91 allows individuals under the age of 17 to apply for a second or subsequent apprentice hunting license. This is a positive move to allow for the continued recruitment and retention of young hunters into the fold.

Please use our take action button to contact the members of the committee with a single click and using a pre-written email that urges them to support SB 10 and SB 91 by improving hunting and fishing in the Old Line State.
