On Wednesday, May 21, at noon in House Office Building room 519, the House Natural Resources and Tourism is scheduled to hear two sportsmen-related bills.
Five years ago, the Michigan pheasant release program was established, but unfortunately that program came with a sunset clause that takes effect January 1, 2026. HB 4401 would repeal that sunset clause leaving the Michigan pheasant release program in place for future generations.
HB 4285 requires the Michigan Department of Education to work with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to make a model program of firearm safety instruction available to schools as an elective course for in grades 6 to 12. The course would be taught by an individual who has been certified as a hunter safety instructor by the DNR and include at least the following topics: proper usage and handling of firearms, safe cleaning and maintenance of firearms, different types of firearms, and safe hunting practices.
Help protect and save the future by using the Take Action button below and emailing the House Natural Resources and Toursim Committee urging them to vote “Yes” on HB 4401 and HB 4285.
Don’t forget to share this alert with your family and friends and encourage them to use the Take Action button to contact the committee. Also, urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the relentless attacks from animal extremists. Because if we don’t, the animal extremists are ready to fill the void and we cannot let that happen in the Great Lake State.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
