Next Tuesday, May 6, at 1 p.m., in hearing room D, the Senate Natural Resources and Wildfire Committee will hold a public hearing on HB 3932A, a bill that is likely to start the process for animal extremists to ban trapping throughout the state. If you would like to register to testify or submit testimony, please use the Registration for Testimony button below and click on the “Register to Testify button” or “Submit Testimony” tab for directions on how to do so.
As previously reported, HB 3932A prohibits a person from taking a beaver on waters or watersheds that are classified in a certain manner or on public land that is within the watersheds or within 200 feet of the ordinary high water mark of such waters.
Please use this Take Action button to email the committee urging them to vote “No” on HB3932A. In previous testimony, the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife states that professionals within the agency “ha[ve] considered whether to ban beaver harvest in four separate Commission meetings since 2020 in response to petitions or requests. The Commission has, to date, declined to ban harvest, in part because available data indicate it [trapping] is not limiting beaver abundance.”
