Last Friday, April 7, the House Ways and Means Committee passed House Bill 2005A, a bill that combines several gun-control bills requested by Gov. Tina Kotek and Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum into one. As previously reported, HB 2005 A contains provisions from HB 2005, HB 2006, and HB 2007. HB 2005 B prohibits persons under 21 years of age from possessing certain categories of firearms, restricts private individuals from making their own firearms for personal use and weakens Oregon’s preemption law by allowing localities to prohibit concealed carry in public buildings and on their grounds.
