Rhode Island sportsmen have a moment to breathe. Two anti-sportsmen bills, HB 5606 and HB 5436, were held for further study by their respective committees. This means the committees will review all the testimony received and decide at a later date whether to bring these bills forward or keep them locked in their committees without a vote.
House Bill 5606 aimed to ban coyote contests but is written to ban any contest or competition taking or hunting any furbearer on state or private land.
House Bill 5436, the “Rhode Island Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2025,” redefines a plethora of commonly owned semiautomatic firearms as “assault weapons” and bans the manufacture, sale, offer to sell, transfer, possess, or have under his or her control an assault weapon.
Please keep an eye on your inbox, as we will continue to monitor HB 5606 and HB 5436 and will alert you when the next call to action may be needed.
In the meantime, do not forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Urge them Take Action when the time comes and to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in standing up to fight, protect, and defend against the rising tide of animal and gun control extremism. The extremists work tirelessly to crater our rights, values and heritage and we must work harder to ensure they are secure today, tomorrow, and for the future.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
