Earlier this month, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed the last three sportsmen-related bills reported by the Sportsmen’s Alliance. These bills will take effect August 1, 2024.
House Bill 684 authorizes black bear hunting, establishes license requirements, authorizes the Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to establish a lottery, authorizes the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to auction for black bear harvest permits, and allows dedicated black bear funds to be used for management, conservation, restoration, and enhancement of the black bear.
Senate Bill 234 prohibits governmental entity contracts with companies that discriminate against the firearm and ammunition industries.
Senate Bill 301 prohibits a financial entity from using a firearms merchant category code to distinguish a firearms retailer from other retailers.
