As previously reported, gun-control extremists are using every possible avenue to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners, including how to uncover personal identifying information on who owns firearms in America through credit card purchases. Yesterday, February 24, Governor Larry Rhoden took an important step in ensuring this does not happen in South Dakota by signing Senate Bill 81 into law.
Senate Bill 81 prohibits a financial institution or an agent of a financial institution from using a firearms code in a way that distinguishes a firearms dealer physically located in this state from a general merchandise retailer or a sporting goods retailer located in this state. The Sportsmen’s Alliance thanks the governor for his support of South Dakota sportsmen. We look forward to his continued support of the Rushmore State’s important hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
