It is time for Colorado’s sportsmen and gun owners to come together again! On Friday, March 28, the Senate concurred with the House amendments on SB25-003. This means the firearm registry bill is headed to Governor Polis for his consideration. The governor has 10 days to make a decision on whether he wants to treat his law-abiding sportsmen and gun-owner constituents like criminals or not.
It is imperative for all of Colorado’s sportsmen and gun owners to use the Take Action button to email Governor Polis Today and urge him to VETO SB25-003.
As previously reported, SB25-003 is detrimental because it is a backdoor scheme to knowing who owns a firearm in Colorado by requiring a permit-to-purchase a firearm. This bill requires Coloradoans to apply for a permit-to-purchase before purchasing a semiautomatic rifle, shotgun, and pistol with a detachable magazine, with a small list of exemptions. Don’t forget sportsmen and gun owners, you will be paying for the state firearm registry by way of a fee with no minimum or maximum listed in the bill. We do know that the fee may be adjusted annually and is collected by the instructor of your basic or extended firearms safety course to be remitted to the Fish & Wildlife Division for deposit into the newly created Firearms Training and Safety Course Cash Fund.
