Tomorrow, Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, the Missouri Conservation Commission will meet in Jefferson City to discuss several items critical to our community, including recommendations for black bear, furbearer, and the 2026-2027 migratory bird seasons.
Decisions made this week will directly impact your opportunities in the field for the upcoming 2026 seasons. We need a strong showing of Missouri sportsmen and women to ensure that science-based management, not political pressure, remains the priority.
Key Action Items for the Friday Agenda
The Friday agenda includes several “Action Items” where the Commission will vote on regulations that define our outdoor traditions:
- 2026 Season Quotas & Dates: The Commission is slated to set harvest quotas for Black Bear and Elk, as well as final dates for the 2026-2027 Migratory Bird seasons. It is vital that these numbers reflect biological data to maintain healthy populations and hunter opportunity.
- CWD & Public Land Access: There will be updates on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) management and new proposals regarding camping regulations and unstaffed shooting ranges. We must stay vigilant to ensure these changes do not create unnecessary barriers to hunter recruitment or access.
- Land Acquisitions: The Department is looking to approve the purchase of over 660 acres of land. As stakeholders, we must ensure these lands remain open and accessible for traditional outdoor recreation.
Why Your Presence Matters
Your presence is the only way to safeguard our traditions. The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping in Missouri depends on our actions today. We are the guardians of this heritage, and there has never been a more crucial time to stay engaged.

Protect the Legacy of Missouri’s Outdoors
Our strength is in our numbers. If we fail to show up, we surrender our voice to extremists who are waiting to fill the void. Take 30 seconds right now to share this email with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen.
The legacy of Missouri’s outdoors depends on us. Urge your family and friends to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in the fight against the rising tide of animal extremism.
