Governor Bill Lee signed the below bills into law, and they will take effect on July 1, 2023.
Senate Bill 494/House Bill 395 allows persons who are not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a handgun to carry a handgun while hunting, so long as the handgun is not used for the taking of game. HB 395 conforms hunting regulations with Tennessee permitless carry law.
House Bill 1189/Senate Bill 822 protects Tennessee’s firearm industry from those who want to destroy the sporting community with crippling lawsuits against firearms manufacturers for the violent acts of third parties.
Last week, Governor Lee announced the special session to discuss solutions to keep Tennessee communities safe, beginning on August 21. The Sportsmen’s Alliance will be monitoring the special session and will inform you if any action is needed.
