Last week, we reported the House Business and Labor Committee ignored the concerns of sporting dog kennels and passed House Bill 359. The bill classified anyone who breeds more than one litter of dogs as a commercial entity, labeling them as “dog breeders.”
On Friday, Feb. 17, HB 359 passed the House of Representatives 49 to 19. With the help of the sportsmen’s community, prior to passage, HB 359 was amended removing our opposition to the bill. HB 359 will now head to the Senate for committee assignment.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance would like to thank the bill sponsor, Rep. Norman Thurston for listening to the concerns of sportsmen and amending the bill. Please use our take action button to email Rep. Thurston thanking him for supporting sportsmen. The Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor HB 359 as it continues through the Senate and will inform you if further action is needed.
