SB 763, a bill imposing an 11% excise tax on firearm and ammunition manufacturers, with the revenue allocated to the Virginia Gun Violence Intervention and Prevention Fund, could be voted on by your state Senator any day.
Use the Take Action button to contact your state Senator and urge him/her to vote “No” to SB 763. Virginia’s law-abiding sportsmen and women are not the drivers of firearm-related crime and should not be taxed to pay for activities brought on by the criminal activities of others.
How the 11% Excise Tax Affects You
This type of tax, also known as a “sin” tax, is levied on specific goods deemed harmful to society. As we all know, manufacturers and dealers will have no choice but to add the 11% “sin” tax onto our purchase of:
- Firearms
- Firearm Accessories
- Ammunition
This legislation forces law-abiding sportsmen to foot the bill for the violent acts of criminals.
Protecting the Sportsman’s Way of Life
There has never been a more crucial time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. Share this email with your family and friends. Urge them to join the fight with you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance.
Sportsmen are no longer just stewards of the land, water, and our cherished natural resources. We ARE the frontline defenders of a way of life increasingly under scrutiny. The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping depends on our actions today.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
