Anti-gun legislators are not wasting time introducing bills to add more restrictions on sportsmen preventing us from enjoying our hunting heritage in the Evergreen state. They claim these laws are to protect the public from gun violence. We know the truth; they only want to disarm law-abiding sportsmen and gun owners.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, at 10:30 a.m., the House Civil Rights and Judiciary Committee scheduled a public hearing on HB 1902, HB 1903, HB 2054, and HB 2118. Please use our Take Action button below to email the members of the committee urging them to OPPOSE these bills that will do nothing to reduce Washington’s criminal element from using a firearm to commit a crime. These bills are also scheduled to be heard in Executive Session for a potential vote at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19.
House Bill 1902 requires all individuals to obtain a permit with live-fire training to purchase firearms. An Oregon judge recently held a similar permitting scheme unconstitutional.
House Bill 1903 further victimizes law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen holding us liable for theft of our property by penalizing us for failing to report a missing or stolen firearm within 24 hours.
House Bill 2054 prohibits a firearm dealer from transferring or selling more than one firearm to a law-abiding sportsman in a 30-day period.
House Bill 2118 mandates additional costly requirements for licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) to continue to operate their businesses.
Also on Tuesday, the Senate Law and Justice Committee is holding a public hearing on SB 5985. This bill is also on the schedule to be heard in Executive Session for a potential vote at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19th.
Senate Bill 5985 places the unconstitutional provisions of the recent ban on commonly owned firearms into the section of the state code on background checks.
Please use our Take Action below to email the members of the committee urging them to OPPOSE SB 5985.
Make sure you use BOTH Take Action buttons to ensure the members of each of the committees hear your opposition to the respective bills.
Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen asking them to also email both committees and oppose HB 1902, HB 1903, HB 2054, HB 2118, and SB 5985. We must work together to stop the cratering of firearm ownership in the Evergreen State for today, tomorrow, and our future generations.
