On Friday, Feb 3, the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on HB 1178 at 10:30 a.m. in House hearing room A. This bill will open the floodgates for localities to institute their own gun control legislation, leading to a patchwork of gun restrictions, and many local jurisdictions will go immediately to outright firearm and possession bans.
Washington’s firearm preemption law is vital as it keeps unsuspecting sportsmen from becoming criminals when they cross over unknown jurisdiction lines. Sportsmen should not have to worry about running afoul of the law to own and legally use a firearm for hunting, shooting, or self-defense.
