The newest gun-control tactic is requiring sportsmen and gun owners to carry firearms insurance. They claim that requiring insurance will “promote” responsible firearm ownership, which is already practiced by the sportsmen in the Evergreen state. The real reason for this insurance is to use the money to offset the cost of violent crime caused by criminals and make law-abiding citizens foot the bill. This tactic has come to Washington in the form of Senate Bill 5963.
On Monday, January 29, SB 5963 is scheduled to be heard at 10:30 a.m., virtually and in Senate hearing room 4, by the Senate Law & Justice Committee. It is also scheduled to be heard the very next day, Tuesday, January 30th in Executive Session for a possible vote at the same time and place.
SB 5963 requires firearm owners to obtain insurance covering losses or damages resulting from the accidental or unintentional discharge of the firearm, including, but not limited to, death or injury to persons who are not insured person under the policy and property damage.
Please use our Take Action button below to email the committee urging them to OPPOSE SB 5963.
Yesterday, the Senate Business, Financial Services, Gaming & Trade Committee heard public testimony on Senate Bill 6294, a bill to ban the sale of fur. At this time, SB 6294 has not been scheduled for its next hearing. Keep an eye on your inbox for an update. In the meantime, if you have not emailed the committee asking them to OPPOSE SB 6294 or want to email them again, please do so today.
SB 6294 bans the sale, offer for sale, display for sale, trade, or otherwise distribute for monetary or nonmonetary consideration a fur product in the state.
Make sure you use BOTH the Take Action buttons to ensure the members of committees hear your opposition to the respective bills.
Don’t forget to share this important alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen asking them also to email both committees and to oppose SB 5963 and SB 6294. We must work together to stop the cratering of firearm ownership in the Evergreen State for today, tomorrow, and our future generations of sportsmen.
