There has never been a more important time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. Animal extremists and other radical elements are working hard to cancel our way of life forever, and even West Virginia is not safe. The only way we can slow the extremists down is by being more actively involved and engaged in the process of protecting our values and heritage.
West Virginia sportsmen will have the opportunity to do just that. The Natural Resource Commission is holding a meeting with a public comment opportunity on Sunday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at the West Virginia University Potomac State College in Keyser. This meeting will cover various subjects and issues important to hunters, including a presentation on a minimum age for youth season; turkey program update; 2025-26 regulation review; proposed 2026-27 hunting, trapping, and fishing regulations; and other issues important to sportsmen, as well as time for public comments.
The seven-member commission serves as an advisory body to the director of the Division of Natural Resources on issues related to conserving the state’s natural resources and protecting fish and game species.
The commissioners must hear from us, the sportsmen, if we want to protect our heritage. If we don’t, you can guarantee that the animal extremists will fill the void. They are already in other states cratering our hunting, fishing, and trapping traditions from the inside out. We cannot let that happen in our great state.

When America’s sportsmen stand together, we remain our nation’s most powerful political force. It is time we take back what is ours by ensuring we stay fully engaged in the fight.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
