On Tuesday, June 2, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) will hold its monthly business meeting to discuss several issues important to hunters and anglers, including a declaration of emergency, several notices of intent, and more.
Items on the June Agenda
The Commission will receive and consider several crucial actions impacting our community, including:
- Waterfowl Adjustments: A Declaration of Emergency to adjust the extended falconry waterfowl hunting dates.
- Conservation Incentives: A Notice of Intent to establish official rules and regulations for the state’s Conservation Incentive Program.
- Fishing Restrictions: A Notice of Intent to modify regulations regarding passive hooked gear.
- Legislative Review: An official recap of conservation and sporting instruments from the recent 2026 Legislative Session.
Anti-hunting groups rely on sportsmen staying silent so they can slowly chip away at our lifestyle, traditions, and heritage. We cannot let that happen. Our vital fish and wildlife resources are entrusted to this Commission, and the commissioners need to hear directly from the boots on the ground.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries headquarters, located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge.
How You Can Take Action
Your voice matters, and we must ensure it is heard loud and clear. You can participate and defend your rights in two ways:
- Attend and Testify In Person: Join us at the LDWF Headquarters (2000 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge). Public comment is explicitly allocated at the end of the meeting, allowing you to address the commissioners directly.
- Monitor Virtually: If you cannot make it to Baton Rouge, the meeting will be broadcast live. You can register to view the session online through the LWFC Zoom Stream portal
