On Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, May 21, the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is holding two critical public meetings to discuss and vote on several issues important to sportsmen and women.
Key Agenda Items
The Board and Committee will take final action on several sweeping regulatory proposals:
- Sportfish Regulation Amendments: Reviewing final updates to freshwater fishing rules.
- Wildlife Regulation Amendments: Adjusting management frameworks for game and wildlife populations.
- Boating and Nongame Regulations: Final action on watercraft guidelines and non-hunted species management.
- FY 2027 Budget Proposal: Directing how your license dollars and conservation funds will be spent.

- Wildlife and Boat Committee Meeting: Wednesday, May 20, at 9 a.m.
- Full Board of Wildlife Resources Meeting: Thursday, May 21, at 9 a.m.
- Location: DWR Headquarters, 7870 Villa Park Drive, Henrico, VA 23228 (or online via virtual teleconference).

- Attend In-Person: Voice your stance directly to the decision-makers at the Henrico headquarters.
- Join Virtually: Watch and stream the meetings via the DWR virtual teleconference portal. Log in is available 15 minutes before the meeting starts.
- Register to Speak: You must submit your request using the official DWR Citizen Participation Registration Form.
- Submission Deadline: The public comment form must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the day before the respective meeting (May 19 for the Committee; May 20 for the full Board).
