About Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery
Belle Meade began in 1807 with a log cabin and 250 acres. Over time, with the dedication of the Harding and Jackson families, and the hard-working laborers who lived here before and after emancipation, this site became one of the largest thoroughbred horse farms in the South. For five generations, Belle Meade was owned, built and controlled by Harding-Jackson families, and at its height expanded to 5,4000 acres. Now just 30 acres, the farm’s centerpiece is its Greek Revival Mansion built in 1853.
Belle Meade is dedicated to the preservation of Tennessee’s history, architecture, hospitality, and equestrian legacy. Guests can enjoy historic Tours, Family Tours, Wine & Food Pairings, Bourbon Tastings, and Chef-Inspired Food & Wine Pairings, knowing that the purchase of these experiences supports the educational mission of Belle Meade.
