On Thursday, the Utah Senate Government Operations and Political Subdivisions Standing Committee failed to give an important pro-sportsmen-related bill a favorable recommendation by a vote of 2 to 5.
House Bill 133 would have made several technical clarifications and enhancements to Utah’s firearm laws, including the strengthening of Utah’s firearm preemption law to include ammunition and firearm accessories. This specific enhancement will add ammunition and firearm accessories to the list of items local and state government entities may not prohibit individuals from owning, possessing, purchasing, selling, transferring, transporting, or keeping at a place of residence, property, business, or in any vehicle lawfully in the individual’s possession or lawfully under the individual’s control in which the individual is lawfully present.
