House Bill 2762 / Senate Bill 2223, the “Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, protects Tennessee’s sportsmen’s credit card purchase privacy and has taken another step closer to becoming a reality in the Volunteer State.
HB 2762 / SB 2223 prohibits a financial institution or its agents from using a firearms merchant category code (MCC) by a firearms retailer physically located in this state in a manner that distinguishes a firearms retailer from a general merchandise retailer or a sporting goods retailer.
Earlier this week, the House Commerce Committee passed HB 2762. It will now move to the House floor for consideration. On the same day, SB 2223 passed the Senate by a vote of 25 to 5 and will sent to the House. Please Take Action button to email your state Representative asking him/her to SUPPORT sportsmen and continue to move HB 2762 and SB 2223 through the legislative process.
With credit card companies moving forward with the implementation of MCCs to track sportsmen, it is more important now than ever for Tennessee to pass HB 2762 / SB 2223.
