At 2:27 p.m., on Friday, March 8th, the 2024 Legislative Session adjourned sine die with the traditional hanky drop. This means the legislative session is completed.
This year, the legislative session was relatively quiet for sportsmen. Both House Bill 17 and House Bill 1223 passed the House, unfortunately, they failed to move any further due to sine die.
HB 17 repeals the mandatory three-day waiting period for all firearm purchases from a federally licensed firearms (FFL) dealer.
HB 1223 repeals the minimum age requirement for purchasing or acquiring a firearm from a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) from 21 to 18.
Even though the 2024 legislative session is over, the Sportsmen’s Alliance will continue to monitor activities in the Sunshine State. You never know when issues that sportsmen need to be aware of may arise.
You can view the bills the Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored during the legislative session on our interactive legislative map. Please share this message with your family and friends, as sportsmen throughout Florida must continue to stay actively involved in defending our hunting, fishing, and trapping heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.
