On May 6, the Connecticut General Assembly adjourned sine die for the 2026 legislative session. This means lawmakers have wrapped up their work for the year without scheduling a return. Consequently, all pending bills have reached their final destination, and no further legislative action will occur this term.
It was a quiet year for sportsmen in the Constitution State. The Sportsmen’s Alliance monitored several bills of interest to our community. Two bills completed the legislative process and were signed into law by Governor Ned Lamont.
New Connecticut Sportsmen Laws Passed in 2026
HB 5153 titled “An Act Concerning Minor Revisions to Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Related Statutes,” updates the administrative rules for Sunday hunting on private property by reducing the paperwork burden for certain conservationists and bird hunters.
HB 5333 titled “An Act Concerning the Regulation of Striped Bass Fishing in the State,” updates state conservation laws to protect local fisheries, marine wildlife, and ecological habitats.

Why We Must Stay Vigilant
Adjournment means the legislative session is over, but the threats do not vanish. Anti-hunting organizations use the off-season to fundraise, draft harsher legislation, and lobby lawmakers at local events.
This is why we need you to stay engaged, keep your boots on the ground, and be ready to mobilize at a moment’s notice. Please share this message with fellow sportsmen and urge them to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in protecting and defending our way of life in the Constitution State.
The Sportsmen’s Alliance guarantees hunting, fishing, and trapping for the American sportsman now and forever. We’re there when sportsmen need us most. We are the only organization specifically created to protect the individual hunter, angler, and trapper – no matter the threat. We will never compromise when it comes to defending our way of life in the courts, in the legislatures, in the public square and at the ballot box. We make this promise to the American sportsman: we will never give up and never give in while proudly securing our future against those seeking to destroy our values, beliefs, and traditions.
