Yesterday, House Bill 61, a bill to protect hunting and firearms during a declared state of emergency, passed the House Community & Regional Affairs Committee. The bill now heads to the House State Affairs Committee for consideration. We will inform you as soon as the hearing date has been scheduled. In the meantime, please use our take action button to email the members of the committee urging them to SUPPORT HB 61 and put in place important safeguards to protect sportsmen and gun owners during declared emergencies.
“Covid illuminated the bad tendency of government overreach during a crisis,” said Todd Adkins, vice president of government affairs for the Sportsmen’s Alliance. “With good reason, many in the sporting community are now pressing for changes that will protect hunters, anglers and trappers when a state of emergency has been declared. We encourage the Alaska Legislature to pass House Bill 61.”
Don’t forget to share this message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen asking them to email the committee urging them to SUPPORT HB 61.
