Alaska: Hunting, Firearms Protection, Possible Vote Tuesday, March 21

Yesterday, House Bill 61, a bill to protect hunting and firearms during a declared state of emergency, received its first hearing in the House Community & Regional Affairs Committee.

The committee has already rescheduled this important legislation for a public hearing and possible vote on Tuesday, March 21. If you have not already contacted the committee, there is still time. Please use our take action button to email the members of the committee urging them to SUPPORT HB 61 and put in place important safeguards to protect sportsmen and gun owners during declared emergencies.

As previously reported, the Covid epidemic exposed an alarming tendency of governments to restrict constitutionally protected freedoms under the guise of an emergency, including such actions by the municipality of Anchorage. Pro-sportsmen legislators are working to ensure that will not happen again.

Don’t forget to share this message with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen asking them to email the committee urging them to SUPPORT HB 61.
