Tomorrow, Thursday, April 4, the Colorado House Business Affairs & Labor Committee is scheduled to hear a bill requiring gun owners to purchase firearm liability insurance.
House Bill 24-1270 requires firearm owners to maintain a liability insurance policy that covers losses or damages to a person, other than the policyholder, who is injured on the insured property as a result of any accidental or unintentional discharge of the firearm.
Gun-control advocates claim that requiring insurance will “promote” responsible firearm ownership, along with being able to use the insurance money to offset the cost of violent crime caused by criminals. They are continually working to punish sportsmen for the criminal acts of others. Now they want to add more costs to the law-abiding for firearm ownership to pay for the criminal acts of others.
Please use the Take Action button to email the committee members and urge them to vote “No” on HB24-1270. This bill does not promote responsible firearm ownership. Responsible means caring about one’s actions, and those are two words not in a criminal’s vocabulary.

Senate Bill 24-066, the credit card purchase tracking bill, can be voted on the House floor at any time. If you have not already emailed your state Representative, please use the Take Action button below. Criminals are not purchasing their firearms at legitimate retail businesses with a credit card. This means only the law-abiding will suffer from an invasion of privacy due to the criminal activities of others.
SB24-066 allows credit companies and payment processors to use merchant category codes (MCC) to track credit card purchases of firearms, firearm accessories, and ammunition.

Earlier this week, the Colorado House Finance Committee passed House Bill 24-1349, the “sin” tax bill, adding another 11% excise tax on the sale of all firearms, firearms, accessories, and ammunition by a vote of 6 to 5. This bill is now headed to the House Appropriations Committee. The hearing date has not been scheduled yet. Please keep an eye on your inbox, as we will inform you when action is needed next.
