Arizona: Gun Show Protection Returns, Passes Committee

As previously reported, Gov. Katie Hobb vetoed last year’s gun show protection bill, SB 1428. Pro-sportsmen legislators are not giving up and are working to send gun show protection back to the Governor in the form of Senate Bill 1189.

SB 1189 strengthens Arizona’s firearm preemption law by ensuring gun shows cannot be prohibited by local governments.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Senate Judiciary Committee took the first step to send SB 1189 back to the governor. This important bill passed out of committee by a 4 to 3 vote. The next hearing date has not been assigned. Please keep an eye on your inbox, as we will continue to monitor this important legislation and alert you when the next call to action is needed.
