Arizona: Industry Protection & Preemption Bills Moving Forward

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee passed Senate Bill 1428 to strengthen Arizona’s firearm laws 5 to 3. SB 1428 will now be sent to the House Rules Committee where we expect it to pass and be sent to the House floor for consideration.

Senate Bill 1428 strengthens Arizona’s firearm preemption law to prevent localities from prohibiting gun shows from operating.

Earlier this week, we reported that SB 1096 was in the House Rules committee. SB 1096 did report out of the Rules Committee and will be sent to the House floor for consideration.

Senate Bill 1096 prohibits a public entity from entering into a contract of $100,000 or more with businesses unless the contract includes a written certification that the business does not, and will not, discriminate against a firearm entity or firearm trade association.
